North American Quitline Consortium
"YPTC understood the challenges of being a small nonprofit"

The North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) is a membership organization for tobacco cessation programs in the U.S. and Canada comprised of funders, operators, public health partners, and researchers.
NAQC initially reached out to YPTC for assistance with setting up bookkeeping procedures. Two years ago, NAQC engaged YPTC to perform all bookkeeping activities during a period of staff transitions. NAQC President & CEO Thomas Ylioja says, “At the end of the engagement, when we re-staffed to support internal bookkeeping, YPTC provided both training and short-term supervision until we were confident we could do it.”
Thomas appreciates that YPTC seamlessly took on and off boarded NAQC’s bookkeeping work. He describes the tangible resulting benefit for his organization: “Knowing we had professional support for our finances gave us the confidence to continue managing existing government grants and do more fundraising.”
Reflecting further on his experience with the YPTC team, he describes YPTC accountants as responsive, extremely professional, and helpful. “They answered all our questions and provided training to help us get back on our feet,” Thomas says. He highlights YPTC Manager Lizeth Herrera and Associate Linda Niepoth “Having them on our side meant we could confidently move through staffing changes and still present high-quality financial statements to the Board each quarter.”
“I would highly recommend YPTC to other nonprofit organizations,” Thomas concludes. “YPTC understood the challenges of being a small nonprofit, including budgeting, forecasting, fundraising, and processing membership dues. They created procedures we could understand and utilize. If we need external bookkeeping services again in the future, I know exactly who to call!”
