DESTINATION CRENSHAW
"I wish that I had not waited so long to get their support"
Destination Crenshaw, a reparative development project in Los Angeles, California, will transform a 1.3-mile stretch of Crenshaw Boulevard. This area has long-deserved economic investment and strategic urban planning into a thriving commercial corridor linked by architecturally stunning community spaces and pocket parks, hundreds of newly planted trees, and over one hundred commissioned works of art.
Jason W. Foster, President and COO of Destination Crenshaw had a challenging time finding the accounting expertise he was seeking for his organization. “I would ride to work every day and wonder how I was going to manage our accounting and bookkeeping. He continues, “Finding a local bookkeeper was difficult. And with my finance background, I have high expectations for this position.”
Difficult, until he discovered YPTC through an NPR advertisement during his commute.
“After going through our fourth bookkeeper and hearing YPTC’s advertisement multiple times,” Foster continues, “I decided to explore their services further.” He found the initial inquiry process straightforward and was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the onboarding process. “I was connected with Paulina, and she has been incredible.”
Paulina Jordan’s impact on the organization has been remarkable. “Whether it’s completely reorganizing our QuickBooks and how we track our transactions or engaging with and advocating for more transparency with our board members, Paulina has helped us do it all.”
“YPTC understands the unique needs of our organization.” He appreciates Paulina’s proactive approach and willingness to engage with the team, fostering a collaborative relationship that goes beyond basic accounting services.
Today, Destination Crenshaw holds weekly meetings with their board treasurer and Paulina, ensuring that financial processes remain transparent and compliant with reporting standards.
“I absolutely recommend YPTC to other organizations. The hardest things for a nonprofit to find are the most important. I wish that I had not waited so long to get their support.”
