Girls Empowerment Network

"YPTC has our backs for all they own with excellence"

Ami Headshott

Girls Empowerment Network is a nonprofit organization that help girls* 3rd-12th grade discover they are powerful across Central Texas, Houston, and Dallas. Their mission is to ignite the power in girls by teaching them skills to thrive and believe in their ability to be unstoppable.

Ami Kane, Executive Director of Girls Empowerment Network originally heard of YPTC through NPR radio ads and was recommended by the United Way of Greater Houston. YPTC has helped girls’ empowerment “level up” regarding time saving on administrative processes, understanding their financial health, and implementing new systems and efficiencies of the modern workplace. Ami shares “We are infinitely better as an organization in our systems and financial stability with YPTC on the team. We had tried to retain a seasoned CFO on our internal leadership team, but the truth is we couldn’t justify this kind of expense long term, and it was scary to contemplate what that may mean.” She continues, “As I was preparing to become Executive Director last year, I was growing concerned about the financial burden as well as how to be successful without someone in that seat I could depend on.”

YPTC was the solution for these concerns. “They not only helped us stay seamlessly on top of our financial health during a critical time of leadership transition, but also gave me the confidence that I needed to thrive and helped us become more efficient and operationally effective than ever before!” Ami says. She goes on to say that she loves how flexible YPTC is as a contractor, “They are responsive to our changing needs. They also have a wealth of perspective–because they work with so many agencies, they can recommend policies and practices which are proven!”

Ami describes the team of accountants at YPTC as highly competent, empathetic, effective, accurate, and helpful. She calls out an associate and manager that specifically impacted girls’ empowerment, “Brooke Barron felt like both a part of our team and an outside expert all at once! We’ve loved working with her and Matthew Guilliams!”

Ami would absolutely recommend YPTC to other nonprofits, “In our sector, we are pulled in so many different directions and expected to wear so many different hats. Partnering with YPTC lets us take off one big hat that never fit right and we can offload the expertise of nonprofit financial management to nonprofit finance experts!” This allows Ami’s staff to stay experts at girls’ empowerment, “We can stand in our power and authority with pride knowing that YPTC has our backs for all they own with excellence!”

*Girls Empowerment Network welcomes youth across the gender spectrum, including those who are cis, trans, non-binary, and gender expansive.
