TRAUMA INSTITUTE & CHILD TRAUMA INSTITUTE
"Things are much more efficient now…."
Headquartered in Northampton, Mass., with satellite offices in Buffalo, N.Y., Greensboro and Wilmington, N.C., and Northern California, the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute provides therapy, training, consultation, information, and resources for those who work with trauma-exposed children, adolescents and adults. TICTI also conducts research on trauma treatment and offers certifications in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and PC (Progressive Counting) as well as a website with extensive resources for clinicians, researchers and parents. These activities promote the healing and healthy development of children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma or loss. TICTI also develops, evaluates and disseminates effective prevention, assessment and treatment methods.
Managing Director Wendy Payson remembers TICTI’s executive director having heard about YPTC on a public radio station. The Institute wasn’t sure whether they wanted to bring in an outside organization or hire someone to work internally, but they met with YPTC to see that they had to offer. “It was a great meeting,” she recalls. “We knew instantly what we needed.”
YPTC Associate Sandra Magri immediately began helping the Institute to update systems that Payson admits were “inefficient and clunky. We were double entering everything but now we’re doing summary entries. It’s saving us hours and hours of time and less human error is happening.
“Things are much more efficient now,” she adds. “It’s been a really great process working with them. When I look back at all the things we’ve accomplished, it’s been amazing.” When the Institute’s part-time bookkeeper left, her duties were divvied up between several office people and YPTC. “It’s been working out very well,” Payson says. “Sandra is a delight to work with. She’s always on-target, always there and always supportive. YPTC offers great service.”
