Deanna Peterson, former Director of Your Part-Time Controller, LLC (YPTC)’s Phoenix office, is now the firm’s Nonprofit Specializations Director. In her new role, Deanna is responsible for the maintenance and growth of YPTC’s services in various, in the areas of both client service and business development.

This promotion follows the retirement of Andi McGunnigle, former Specializations Director. For Deanna, the position of Nonprofit Specializations Director is a natural next step in her career with YPTC. Since joining the firm in 2019, Deanna has held several leadership roles, including Phoenix Market Leader, where she oversaw client service and staff development across Arizona and New Mexico. Her background includes over 20 years of accounting experience spanning Big 4 public accounting, nonprofit controllership, and consulting.

YPTC has been providing expertise to foundations, associations, arts and culture organizations, houses of worship, and more for over three decades. In 2020, YPTC began to formalize a specializations department, strategically nurturing its expertise in nonprofit sub-sectors.  This effort has allowed the firm to address each organization’s unique needs in a thoughtful and tailored way. “As the former leader of YPTC’s Phoenix office, I have seen firsthand how important our tailored expertise is to the nonprofit community,” Deanna says. “Our clients are not ‘one-size-fits-all’ and our work reflects the time and care we take to ensure their unique needs are addressed.”

Deanna has strategic plans to help YPTC grow in this area. “We have an energetic and motivated group dedicated to optimizing client-service operations, growing our staff knowledge base, and spreading the word about YPTC’s specializations expertise.” She continues, “I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I am excited to see how many more nonprofits we can help along the way.”

Deanna is a frequent speaker and trainer at nonprofit leadership conferences, including AZ Impact for Good, the Northern Arizona Nonprofit Leadership Summit, and the United Way Western Regional Conference. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Washington and has been a licensed CPA since 2006.
