Texas Forensic Nurse Examiners (TXFNE) is a nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas, with the mission to improve access to services for victims of violence, including sexual assault, child and elder abuse, interpersonal violence, strangulation, and human trafficking.

Julie Sengstacken, CFO of TXFNE, recalls first hearing about YPTC through a referral from Withum (formerly PKF Texas), an accounting firm. TXFNE hired YPTC to help them through the simultaneous challenges of an upcoming audit and a data transfer to QuickBooks Online—both during the COVID-19 pandemic. “YPTC made an immense difference in our operations, providing accounting expertise needed and a true partner for our financial operations. We saw the value in keeping YPTC on to oversee and support our finances as it also adds an extra level of ethical certainty,” she says.

Julie appreciates YPTC’s professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic, noting “they do what they say they will do.” She describes the YPTC team as smart experts who understand TXFNE’s objectives, mission, and work products and provide timely expertise in areas where their staff need extra support. She mentions Andrew Miller, Director of YPTC Houston, “We have a lot of respect for him.” She continues, “I think the biggest selling point besides the expertise is flexibility in that we can use as much or as little support as we need, which is perfect for a smaller nonprofit.”

Additionally, Julie calls out Brooke Barron: “She has been so key for our growth; another person of high respect, she’s been a true partner. She almost feels like part of our staff, she’s just that involved and knowledgeable about our organization, learning all the different nuances of what we have built here.”
