BikeWalk NC
"Having YPTC as a remote partner has been invaluable"
Located throughout North Carolina, BikeWalk NC envisions a state where anyone can choose to bicycle, roll, run, and walk as practical, healthy, safe, and active transportation. The organization leads, supports and inspires advocacy and educational efforts throughout North Carolina for an environment that fairly, safely and equitably serves bicyclists, pedestrians and others using active mobility and human-powered transportation. Its educational resources inform bicyclists, pedestrians, transportation planners and engineers, motorists, advocates, and safety officers. BikeWalkNC sponsors an annual Transportation Summit that features nationally recognized and regional presenters who focus on the safety, health, community design, and equity dimensions of active mobility.
“We first heard about YPTC on public radio,” recalls Terry Lansdell, Executive Director. It was a fortuitous moment, as BikeWalk NC was undergoing a transition on its Board of Directors: the Treasurer, who had great skills, had recently left. “We needed help,” he says.
YPTC jumped right in. “Their ability to adapt and learn our small nonprofit has been extraordinary,” he says. “After only a few short meetings YPTC’s representative knew our business inside and out. They were able to run – not walk – to keep us moving forward.”
Lansdell is especially impressed with YPTC’s model of serving clients remotely; BikeWalkNC has no physical office and conducts all its work remotely. “Having YPTC as a remote partner has been invaluable. It matches our business model and brings our work up to the highest level,” he adds.
“YPTC is a great opportunity for a small nonprofit to provide a stable treasurer’s role who will up their game. We’ve been very happy to join forces with them to grow our reputation and fulfill our reporting requirements. They’ve been critical in helping us grow our organization without any holes or cracks. They make sure that when we get an audit we’re fully ready for it. It’s been smooth as silk. We’re glad that YPTC does all that hard work for us.”
