Elevate is a grant writing firm that has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for nonprofit organizations around the country. Their talented and experienced fundraisers provide grant writing, strategy, prospect research, and training to nonprofits of all sizes. Founded in 2013, the Washington, DC-based organization now has a growing staff of 60 grant writers who make the process of applying for funding more affordable, effective and strategic.

As an organization that provides nonprofits with outsourced expertise in fundraising, Elevate immediately understood the value of YPTC’s model: access to high-level talent when you need it. And, as a company focused on building long-term relationships with its own clients, Elevate was particularly happy to see the same commitment from YPTC.

“It’s worked out really well,” says Elevate’s President & COO, Katy Kale. “Our YPTC Associate, David Pate, is a resource to our staff and feels like part of our team. New staff often think he works for us!” Pate even helped train Elevate’s new finance manager when she joined.

Pate does Elevate’s books monthly and makes sure that all financial information is captured correctly. “We’re still a relatively young business so we’re constantly improving our systems, from financial planning to budgeting to expense tracking. David is helping us with that, looking back across the years for similarities and outliers and looking ahead to keep us in the loop of new developments,” Kale adds. “What he does for us helps our clients in the end.”

Kale likes the fact that YPTC’s mission is similar: to take one’s expertise and help nonprofits so they don’t have to worry about writing grants and running a financial team. “With 60 staff and more than 90 clients across the country, we need more than one person working on our finances. Working with YPTC has allowed us to keep our overhead lower than it would be otherwise, so that we can focus our resources and staff time on our nonprofit clients.”

Kale praises the YPTC approach. “It is seamless, professional and personable. I don’t feel like it’s somebody airdropping in from another company. David and YPTC are invested in our success,” she adds. “One of our values is that ‘teamwork makes the dream work,’ and that’s exactly how we work with Your Part-Time Controller.”
