Re:MIND
"I didn’t have to worry about who was going to do my books"
Re:MIND, formerly known as the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Greater Houston, provides free and confidential support groups for individuals living with, or family and friends affected by, depression and bipolar disorders. Re:MIND’s general support groups are open to anyone 18 and over experiencing signs and symptoms of, or diagnosed with, depression or bipolar disorder. The groups are free and confidential and are conducted in Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery Counties and outlying areas surrounding Houston in Southeast Texas. Re:MIND is the only area community provider of peer support groups that are professionally supervised, monitored and managed by a staff of Licensed Mental Health Professionals.
“We’ve used YPTC’s services for at least a decade,” recalls Jennifer Leal, Executive Director. “Over the last few years, in particular, we’ve been extremely pleased with our controller. She’s timely, efficient, and her work is awesome. The reports are wonderful.”
Like other long-term YPTC clients, re:MIND has experienced changes when the assigned associate moved on. “We’ve had changeover, just as there is in any industry,” Leal notes. “But I didn’t have to stress about it. I have enough problems already. I didn’t have to worry about who was going to do my books. YPTC took care of it.” Leal sees not having to worry about hiring a new finance person as a benefit of contracting with YPTC. “They know who we are, they find the person who will be the right fit, and they have a manager who will make sure it’s going to work. We’re not reinventing the wheel every time.”
Leal also relies heavily on YPTC’s vast experience with hundreds of other nonprofits. “There are three things besides closing our books that I really depend on with YPTC,” she explains. “Help with our budgeting, the audit, and finding out what other nonprofits are forecasting in this economy. That helps us with our planning. Bouncing ideas off of YPTC helps us make sure that what we’re planning makes sense and that I’m taking a responsible budget to my Board. That’s something I appreciate.
“It’s a really good team,” she adds. “They really care about our mission, which is something that I really care about.”
