Schumann Fund for New Jersey (SFNJ) is an independent foundation that advances ideas and opportunities to empower low-income children, families, and communities of color to thrive. SFNJ invests in non-profit organizations rooted in Essex County and statewide that work to advance racial and economic equity.

Lucy Vandenberg, Executive Director, explains that SFNJ heard about YPTC from the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers, which is the center for philanthropy in New Jersey and a client of YPTC. SFNJ was seeking a consultant with accounting expertise that also understands the non-profit landscape to augment their small staff.

“YPTC has developed clear and concise monthly and year-end financial statements, including helpful graphs, charts, and summaries, to our Board. Our Board finds the materials easy to digest, providing an essential snapshot of our organization’s financial position. YPTC has also helped to streamline our annual audit process, providing necessary information and reports on a timely basis,” Lucy says.

She appreciates that YPTC crafted a new layout for their financial statements, “including helpful analysis of our grantmaking allocations in each of our program priorities. I also appreciate that YPTC provides checks and balances. I can always rely on them as an extra set of eyes when I have a question about anything accounting related.”
