The United States Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

"Crucial resource for nonprofits"

Mary Headshot

Since 1984, The United States Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has played an active role in the spiritual formation of children and adults in the United States, spreading the Good News of the Gospel and promoting the religious capacities of young children through the method of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Their mission is to support catechists, parents, and others in the Church and beyond, as they grow in their understanding of the religious potential of children. With close to 3500 active members from 21 diverse Christian traditions, CGSUSA is the only association in the US authorized to certify catechists in formation and certify the Formation Leaders who train them.

Mary Mirrione, National Director, and Molly Murphy, Business Manager of CGSUSA were preparing for their first audit in Arizona and realized they needed help with accounting, month-end closing and board reporting. Soon enough COVID came and pushed their need to look at forecasting and budgeting limited funds. Their tax accountant recommended a few people to interview, and Dan Tritch, Director at YPTC, stood out, “YPTC was a perfect choice!” Mary says.

“YPTC has allowed us to grow to another stage. They’ve helped us modify how we undertake our mission and our funds and given us the ability to give pristine reports to our Board of Trustees and our grantors,” Mary states.

Molly goes into more detail about how Dan helped with key decisions, “it was quite timely, soon after our engagement, the pandemic hit us all. YPTC was proactive in all that was required. They kept us informed through webinars, email blasts and had information on how to fill out the PPPL forms. There is always a personal yet professional approach to our communications”. Mary adds “[Dan] has helped us prepare for the auditing process and acquiring grants that has had a huge impact on our work and ministry. He has always been ready to answer our questions and offer his wisdom and advice.”

“Our friends at YPTC have been extremely easy to work with. They’re very cooperative and flexible. They are very experienced and well informed, which supports our association’s needs. I have been delighted in how outstanding their work has been and how supportive they are,” Mary says.

Mary and Molly would recommend YPTC to other nonprofits, “who like us are not ready to have a CFO or a financial team. YPTC is truly an outstanding and crucial resource for nonprofits. I’m grateful that YPTC offers this excellent solution.”
