For nearly four decades, families in Mercer County, N.J., have been turning to Arm in Arm for help with essential needs such as food and financial support. The organization was founded in 1980 by leaders of Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church in Princeton as the Crisis Ministry to help community members who were struggling financially. Today, 20 staff members and hundreds of volunteers welcome more than 4,000 families each year to food pantries. Arm in Arm teams work to assist 600 at-risk families to prevent or end homelessness, and to offer job search mentoring and on-the-job training. The organization changed its name to Arm in Arm in 2016 to reflect its positive partnership with the community and the collaborative spirit that helps support neighbors in need.
