Following Ellie Hume’s promotion to Regional Director, Rachel DeMatteo, former Client Service Manager, has been named Director of YPTC’s New York office.
“For the past 10 years, Rachel has demonstrated incredible leadership and dedication to YPTC and the New York office. She is a technical expert, excellent teacher, and a genuinely kind individual. Our valued clients and amazing staff are truly fortunate.” said Ellie.
Rachel is a CPA and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated summa cum laude. With 18 years of experience working with nonprofits, Rachel has served across all sectors and is the leader of YPTC’s foundations specialization. Rachel is an active member of the New York State Society of CPAs’s Not-for-Profit Organizations committee and has presented educational sessions for Philanthropy New York and the New York Council of Nonprofits, among others.
Rachel always knew she wanted to use her accounting degree to make a difference and started her career as a nonprofit auditor in Pittsburgh. She then worked for an economic development focused nonprofit before moving to New York.
“When I started at YPTC in 2013 as an Associate, the New York office only had 6 staff members. Being an Associate was the perfect blend of the variety and continual learning that comes with auditing with the added impact of being a trusted, internal advisor to several nonprofits.” recounts Rachel, “It has been amazing to work closely with Ellie (and Jennifer Alleva, Managing Partner) to help grow the New York office into our current team of 74! I am so proud and excited for the future.”
Additionally, Rachel serves as Treasurer of Colt Coeur Theater Company. She is the proud mother to a three-year-old and lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Rachel’s commitment to excellence, dedication, leadership, and technical nonprofit accounting expertise has enhanced client service and staff experience. YPTC congratulates Rachel and is excited for her continued success.
