YPTC’s North/Northeast Regional Director, Eleanor (Ellie) Hume has been recognized as a “Nonprofit Trailblazer” by City and State New York. City & State’s annual Nonprofit Trailblazers, “puts a spotlight on an array of key leaders in the sector in New York, including executive directors, presidents and CEOs of major organizations as well as other exemplary nonprofit staffers spearheading innovative programs and initiatives.” Ellie, along with the other honorees were celebrated at a gala in Manhattan’s Battery Park on May 22. Ellie took a moment to share her thoughts about this honor and her experience.
While Ellie’s career did not begin in New York City, she attributes so much of her impact and career growth to her time spent cultivating YPTC’s New York office. “When I came to NYC on behalf of YPTC 13 years ago, I felt like a trailblazer because I knew what YPTC had to offer to the nonprofit community here was special – and still is! Being a part of building our practice and helping hundreds and hundreds of nonprofits in and around the state during this time has been nothing short of amazing. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love continuing this work by supporting YPTC’s growing team all across New York state, as well as the country, in my Regional Director role, but also as Board member of a NY-based nonprofit, BoardStrong.”
She continued to describe her involvement in BoardStrong, “I am passionate about educating the nonprofit community, especially Boards, about their fiduciary duties and responsibilities, as well as helping nonprofits build stronger Boards through Board development and Board matching, which BoardStrong offers. Not everyone has the opportunity to feel passionate about the work they do every day, and I feel truly fortunate to be one of the lucky ones to enjoy that luxury through both YPTC and BoardStrong!”
Ellie shared her thoughts on being a 2025 City & State Nonprofit Trailblazer. “It is truly an honor to be included in this list of distinguished, accomplished and outstanding individuals doing extraordinary work in New York City, the State of New York, and far beyond its borders. Most people in the nonprofit world don’t do the work for the recognition, and quite frankly, their hard work and dedication often go unnoticed because it just is the fabric of society that makes everything work. To play a small part in that through the work I get to do every day helping nonprofits through education and better financial management practices is inspiring and humbling.”
YPTC congratulates Ellie and thanks her for all she does to help our organization thrive. Our team is so grateful for her experience, drive, and leadership.
