What is Your Part-Time Controller?
YPTC is a Top 100 Accounting Firm specializing in nonprofit accounting and financial management. We have served nonprofits of all types and sizes for over 30 years, as a trusted advisor and thought partner.

What does the hiring process look like?
At YPTC, our hiring process is designed to help candidates learn about the role, our culture, and the impact we make serving nonprofit organizations. After submitting an application, qualified candidates connect with a member of our Talent Acquisition team for an initial conversation. Candidates then move through a series of interviews with recruiters, hiring managers, and other team members, providing opportunities to discuss their experience, career goals, and what it’s like to work at YPTC. Throughout the process, our team is available to answer questions and help candidates determine whether YPTC is the right fit for them. The goal is to create a positive, informative experience that allows both the candidate and YPTC to make a thoughtful hiring decision.
- “When I went in for my interview, I was really impressed with how [YPTC] vet their employees. I’d never been through this thorough a screening before where you’re assessed in person and they do a complete background check. To me, that says a lot about the organization – that they want good and competent people on their staff.” – Leonila Capron, Staff Accountant
- “The onboarding interview process is thorough to make sure you’re not only technically competent but also that you’ll be a good fit for YPTC’s culture and that the culture will work for you.” – Kasey Henry, Employee Experience Manager
What type of experience do you need to work at YPTC?
YPTC primarily hires accounting and finance professionals who want to use their skills to support nonprofit organizations. While specific requirements vary by position, candidates typically have accounting, bookkeeping, controller, CFO, or other financial management experience. Nonprofit experience can be valuable, but YPTC also provides training, onboarding, and opportunities for professional growth to help staff build expertise in nonprofit accounting. YPTC looks for professionals who are passionate about helping nonprofits fulfill their missions while bringing strong accounting and financial management skills to their work.
- “In 2015 I was interested in finding a new job and I was referred to YPTC by a woman I had interned with in college who was working there… I liked the aspect of their work with nonprofit clients because they’re doing something good for society. My only concern was that I had no nonprofit background… They give you a lot of orientation and training at the beginning. They train you not only on YPTC’s culture and the technical aspects of nonprofit accounting but also on scenarios of what can happen in these organizations.” – Huan Li, Associate
What are YPTC’s core values?
YPTC’s culture is built on eight core values: Trust, Support, Education, Integrity, Equity, Community, Strong Relationships, and Excellence. These values guide how we work with colleagues, clients and nonprofit organizations we serve. We foster an environment where staff are encouraged to collaborate, continue learning, communicate openly, act with integrity, value diverse perspectives, support their communities, and build meaningful relationships.
- “…There are plenty of places that talk about their values but don’t live them. YPTC does, and it seems organic. Every meeting and interaction exudes authenticity and that we’re doing things for the right reason. The culture and values here are everything. YPTC talks about how the clients are important, but the employees are even more important.” – Annie Mielke, Associate
What is the company culture like?

A unique aspect of our culture emphasis on communication and teamwork, reflected in the company’s Prime Directive: “Never Let A Colleague Be Blindsided.” This principle encourages transparency, proactive communication, and strong working relationships among colleagues and clients.
- “When I read about YPTC’s organizational culture on the website, I was skeptical and honestly thought it was too good to be true; the culture shown on most firms’ websites never really matches up. But I quickly found that YPTC’s culture as seen on the website matches up with the actual culture and that was a pleasant surprise. I tell our new hires that what’s presented on the website is what you’ll experience.” – Ben Hays, Director
